Coconut Oil Benefits : Beauty Edition

I have recently fallen in love with coconut oil as i'm sure many of you have as well. I use it daily and it is actually a frigin' god send! I could probably blab on all day about what you can use this miracle product for but I thought I would share with you all some of my top uses for this multi purpose product. Extra Virgin Coconut Oil is best because it is a lot more natural than other types that you get. If you haven't picked up some yet then just head down to your local supermarket and pick some up. I got my jar for under $10NZD so it is super affordable indeed. Let's get started!:

Cuticle & Hand Cream I have always had a hard time with my dry cuticles and no hand cream I ever tried would help out enough for me to even see a difference, maybe feel a bit of a difference but now twice a day for the past week or so, I rub coconut oil on my hands and into my cuticles and I can definitely see a huge difference!

Hair Treatment For an overnight hair treatment mask you just need to, heat up about 5 tablespoons of coconut oil in the microwave then wait until it cools. After it cools, just apply like you would any hair mask. Leave the mask in over night and wash your hair in the morning for a seriously silky smooth do.

Eye Cream Stop spending your hard earned cash on expensive eye creams right now! I seriously mean that. I have used so many eye creams in my search to find the perfect one for me. In the end I found out that coconut oil is 100% better than any eye cream I have ever tried. Like truly and if you get it in your eye accidentally it won't burn like some eye creams or irritate your delicate eye area. You can even use this product on your eyelashes to help condition them and help them grow. Bonus!

Night Cream When doing my night time beauty routine, I use coconut oil as a night cream on the places on my face that need extra moisture. Normally my nose and forehead get dry so I work a bit of this into these areas before bed and while I sleep it works its magic. Even better, it won't clog pores and cause black heads so you can use this all over your face as well.

Body Oil In winter especially my skin tends to get a tad dry and tight feeling. I just use this oil as a treatment once a week on my whole body after a long pampering shower. You don't need much though so less is definitely more when it comes to this body oil treatment.

Body Exfoliator All you have to do to make this gorgeous body scrub is mix the coconut oil with granulated sugar then in the shower exfoliate. Simple as that and you will smell so nice and coconuty afterwards. I know that isn't a word, just go with it aha.

Makeup Remover After using this for awhile I honestly don't understand why people are still buying branded makeup removers to be honest. This is seriously a god send. Gets rid of face makeup and even waterproof eye and lip makeup, without irritating your eyes or anything. After rubbing the coconut oil all over your face, eyes and lips, wipe off with a warm flannel. This will get rid of all the traces of makeup and leave your skin feeling soft and refreshed.

Shaving Cream To stop getting sore and itchy shaving rash, simply use coconut oil in place of your normal shaving cream. It will leave your legs a lot smoother than before and the razor will even last longer because of the oil will condition the blades, which also makes it easier to get clean after shaving.

Acne Treatment If a pesky spot pops up, dab a bit of coconut oil on it and leave it on for about 15 minutes. Wash off with warm water and follower with a choice of your toner. The antibacterial properties will help your pimple heal a lot quicker and take some of the annoying redness away.

Love always,
Louise XoXo.

  1. Great tips, although just a note on using coconut oil on your face - it has actually been identified as comedogenic (pore clogging) so it's not too good to leave on your skin. If it works for you then by all means keep it up, but it's generally not a good idea.
